PMPKM is a system to help knowledge workers stay on top of the ever changing landscape of work. The book is a user manual on how to set up the personal knowledge management (PKM) system and to deal with all the tasks that come up at work. With processes to manage each day, week, and performance cycle you'll feel confident that you aren't dropping any critical tasks.

It is a perfect blend of Build a Second Brain (BASB) and GTD. While the book goes through setting up PMPKM within Obsidian, you can apply many of the learnings within other systems.

About the author

My name is Ryan Mathews and I am a product manager at Google (*all views my own).

I know about the 101 things that have to be juggled every day. After feeling frustrated with my existing half-backed system at work and trying to juggle multiple tools, I knew I needed a different system. I burned it all down and started over.

Being able to leverage PKM and GTD together was a natural solution. I have been iterating and tweaking this system for over a year to cover various facets of life at work. It has enabled me to feel confident about the work I'm doing and knowing that I'm staying on top of everything.

I put this book together to help others feel the benefits of using PMPKM.

What does the book cover?

The book will go from A to Z on how to set up a personal knowledge management system, including an introductions to markdown, Obsidian, PARA (the folder structure from BASB), and GTD. It covers how to start each morning and how to finish each week. How to capture your tasks so that you'll have them at your finger tips right when you need them.

Is this book for you?

Imagine three months from now. You are getting ready for work, your mind is clear, and you are confident about the status of all of your projects. Your morning ritual gets you into the right frame of reference for the day and you know which tasks you are going to work on later that morning.

If a cross-functional team member asks you about a project or clearity about how some system works, you'll have the answer at your finger tips.

You are less stressed because even though you have 30+ projects on your plate, you know what needs to be done, and you are confident about moving each of them forward to completion. You know you are setting yourself up for that next promotion.

Your co-workers will wonder how you stay on top of everything and are so responsive.

When you head out for the day, you can be more present at home knowing you captured the current state of everything and you can pick it back up tomorrow.

This can be your story.
